Crossing the Andes

While the Beagle was completing its missions of surveys along the coast of Chile, Darwin made a geological excursion looping across the Andes and back, making one of the first serious geological studies of the range. The southern portion of the loop remains territory for adventure.

Here I am pointing out my location on Darwin’s geologic cross section across the Andes.
